Since the March 2024 reform to Article 3 of the Income Tax Law, income from foreign sources and capital brought in from abroad — investment returns, repatriated funds, remittances — is not subject to income tax in El Salvador, for residents and non-residents alike. In April 2026 the Legislative Assembly also removed the withholding on stock-market returns for non-domiciled investors.
